You may withdraw from the ABC Study at any time without giving us a reason and also request the information and any unused samples you have already provided to be destroyed. Your decision to withdraw will not affect your relationship with Cancer Council Victoria. If you withdraw and request for your data to be destroyed, it will not be possible to remove your data from research conducted before your request.

Withdraw and destroy information and unused samples

  • We will destroy the information and any unused samples you have already provided.
  • We will not invite you to participate in any future study components or sub-studies and we will not send you any further updates about the progress of the study.
  • We will not obtain any new information about you from cancer and death registries.
  • We will not obtain any new information about you from hospitals, pathology laboratories, or the Victorian or Australian Electoral Commission.
  • We will not obtain any new Medicare or PBS claims information. If you have previously consented for this data to be released to the study, we will withdraw your consent for this information to be released to us.
  • We will not contact you about genetic information that may be relevant to you and your family
